Emergency kit for a household with a dog
A dog is part of the family - also when everyday life breaks down. The authorities recommend that households can manage on their own for at least three days, and if you have pets you should set aside extra water for them. This kit is for two adults, a child and a medium-sized dog.

Who is it for?
Families with a dog - here a dog of 10 to 25 kilos. If you have a small or large dog, several dogs or a cat, choose that in the calculator. The water need is calculated by the animal's size, so the kit fits your pets.
What's inside?
The household shares the emergency radio, LED lantern, power bank and first aid kit. The adults each get a headlamp and hand warmers, and all three get an emergency sleeping bag and emergency blankets. The headlamp is also handy for walks in the dark if the street lights are off.
Water is the big difference: on top of three litres per person per day we add extra water for the dog, so both the family and the dog have enough for three days. The water comes in collapsible carriers that take up almost no space until filled.
Good to know with a dog
As far as possible, keep your dog's usual routines for walks and feeding, even when the power is off - it makes the situation calmer for animals and people alike. Keep a lead, a reflector and the headlamp ready by the door. Put a copy of your dog's vaccination details and your vet's phone number with the kit, so you have them to hand if you need help.
What you add yourselves
Dog food for at least three days and any medication your dog needs, on top of the family's own food, medication and some cash. Our guide to pets in your emergency plan covers what else your animal needs. If you already have a radio, first aid kit or power bank, tick it and we take it out.
